The South Australian Lower Northern country representative side recently won their first ever Foundation Cup title thanks to the support of their major sponsor Geoplex.
The 13 and under state country titles involves the best juniors from the six regions in South Australia competing for the opportunity to represent their state at the Australian titles, held during the Sydney International each January. Both the Boys and Girls won their respective teams competitions. This success was backed up by Lower Northern players Joel Broadhead and Josie Ruddock winning the Boys Championship and Girls Championship respectively. A total of four players from the Lower Northern region made the eight player team to represent South Australia.
Through the support of Geoplex the Lower Northern region was able to hold a number of squad events in regional towns like Warooka, Clare, Lyndoch and Balaklava which allowed the very best players in the region to be identified. The success of this program is reflected in the results obtained by the teams selected to represent the Lower Northern region in the Foundation Cup.
